Plot
Short Summary
Hale asks Kenzi to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to impress his father at an upcoming event where the Noble Fae families will be attending. Kenzi agrees to do so, but Nate becomes concerned that something is going on and Kenzi isn't telling him about it. Lauren and Nadia visit Bo, and Nadia searches through Bo's home to find clues about Bo's relationship with Lauren. Bo confronts Nadia and tells her that she has nothing to worry about, but Nadia doesn't seem to believe Bo. Hale introduces Kenzi as his girlfriend to his family, but they reject Kenzi and express their hate of humans in general as they do so, as well as their racial views of anyone not of their own family. As this happens, a creature is attacking the Fae Noble families and killing the leaders of them one by one. Hale's sister tries to seduce Dyson, and Hale discovers them making love and tells Dyson that he doesn't know him anymore. Bo discovers that the Fae families are being attacked by a Cherufe which the Noble Fae families have double crossed, Hale's father being one of them that did so by not giving up his first born daughter to it. Nate confronts Kenzi at the event about what is going on, but they reconcile their relationship. Bo stops the attack, and announces the coming of the Garuda to the assembled families, but none of them want to help her. Bo tells them all that it is obvious to her that the Garuda is making them all more violent towards each other than they normally are and they need to band together to fight it, but they are too frightened to do so. In the end, she leaves with Hale and Kenzi, Hale rejecting his father, but gaining a small measure of support from him. As the episode ends, Lauren finds Nadia cutting herself with a knife, but Nadia has no memory of doing so. As they embrace, Nadia's face changes as if she is possessed by something or someone but Lauren does not see this.
Detailed Summary
The episode begins with Bo (Anna Silk) arriving home and calling out for Kenzi (Ksenia Solo), but Kenzi does not seem to be home. Bo goes into the kitchen and begins to open a tub of ice cream when a sword sweeps towards her from behind and she ducks to avoid it. Turning around, she sees that it is Kenzi attacking her in order to hone Bo's skills. Kenzi tosses Bo a weapon and tells Bo that she needs to practise. However, initially Kenzi is rather clumsy with her weapon, dumping the ice cream on the floor, until the two begin to spar with one another. As they do so, Kenzi tells Bo that The Garuda could strike from anyway and she needs to be ready for all possibilities. They continue to spar with Kenzi making occasional comments like: "Killer Kitty" and "Reverse Cowgirl" before Kenzi puts her weapon through a wall and almost strikes Nate (Aaron Ashmore) as he enters the room. Nate tells them that he is bringing tacos and not to kill him. Kenzi greets him and asks if he brought extra hot sauce, to which Nate nods. Nate then enters the room. The two women look at him and then Nate asks what was going on. They claim it was either blade aerobics or Sword-lates. Nate shakes his head and tells them both that they are the strangest girls he has ever met. Kenzi tells Nate that he's sweet before kissing him and Bo just says that they like to "get their freak on."
Elsewhere, a Fae named Nigel (Paul Fauteux) is being led to an audience with one of the heads of the Fae Noble families by a consigliere (Samantha Madely). He wishes to see the Don of the Clan Bukharin, a woman named Marisol Carmody, also known as "The Iron Fist" and ask for some assistance in a business problem he has. The consigliere reminds him that the Don is very strict about protocol and that he should remember to curtesy to her as they view several pieces of art of the Don. Then there is a scream from a nearby room and the pair rush towards it. Unlocking the door, they discover the Don has been burned alive, her body turned to ash where it sits in a chair.
Returning from commercial, Hale (K.C. Collins) has arrived to investigate what happened to Marisol. The consigliere is very defensive and rude towards him, noting that they do not have a member of Clan Zamora on their grounds. At that point Dyson (Kristen Holden-Ried) enters the room. The consigliere asks if Dyson is Hale's commanding officer, to which Hale says no, but Dyson says yes to Hale's surprise. Dyson also notes that he is not aligned with any particular clan and the consigliere seems to be relieved about this and tells Dyson to contact her should he need anything. After she leaves, Hale asks what Dyson was playing at and he explains that he was trying to let Hale off this case "gracefully." Dyson then tells Hale that Hale's father called him and told Dyson that Hale's being involved in the case was "bad for appearances." Hale tells Dyson that his father does not run his life and starts to leave. Dyson asks if they are cool, but Hale does not answer him, leaving Dyson in the crime scene alone.
Hale then goes to talk to Kenzi about what has happened. At first Kenzi is more interested in the dead woman, but Hale soon turns the conversation in another direction. Kenzi listens as Hale tells her that he hates what Dyson has become. Dyson has become "totally unreliable and he doesn't give a damn." Kenzi tells Hale that she is sorry that they are having "a boy fight" which does make Hale smile for a moment. He tells Kenzi that he could use a friend and she holds his hand, but then Hale explains that what he needs is a girlfriend and Kenzi releases her hold on him. Hale explains that the once a century meeting of the original Noble Fae families will be soon and he needs a date for it. Kenzi declines explaining that she has a boyfriend, but Hale presses on explaining that it would get his family off his back. Kenzi declines again, but in response, Hale takes out a list of things he has done for her and begins to read them out loud to Kenzi. They include: erased all of her parking tickets, rescued her from a Minotaur, and nodded knowingly when she told Bo that her shoes had been stolen by Cobbler Elves when Kenzi stole them from Bo. When he's about to read a fourth one, Kenzi pulls the list from his hands and agrees to help him. Kenzi makes a few conditions, mostly that it is temporary, that she won't kiss Hale and they will not be intimate. Hale promises to try and contain himself as he places a box on the table between them telling Kenzi that it is a gift for her. She opens it and Hale explains that it his Nonna's old Inverell gown the and fascinator. Kenzi is somewhat unimpressed with the items and then asks when the event will be held. Hale tells her that it will be the next day, but first she has to meet his family.
At the same time, Bo is meeting with The Ash (Vincent Walsh) who is showing her a picture of Marisol Carmody. Bo explains that she knows about what happened to her, but she assumes that Hale and Dyson are investigating the case. The Ash tells Bo that Hale took himself off the case because his father is the head of the Clan Zamora. The Ash explains that when it comes to the Fae, only three clans matter: Zamora, Bukharin and Fin Arvin. He explains that they are all very rich, very powerful and would kill each other in a heartbeat to be more so. Bo comments that they seem to be like the Mob, but with mermaids. Bo however cannot understand why someone might want to murder Marisol. The Ash explains that it is not a matter of who, but why at this moment in time. He explains that the coming weekend is an event called the Inverell which is a meeting of the three clans, and The Ash wants to make sure that nothing damages the current peace between the clans. Bo makes the connection that The Garuda might attempt to end this peace for its own ends. The Ash asks Bo to partner with Dyson and discover who is responsible for what has happened and stop them. He also tells Bo that it is also an opportunity for her to reveal the threat all Fae face to them and possibly gain the assistance of the resources of the clans as a result. Bo agrees as it would tip the scale in their favour. The Ash tells Bo to be aware that she is facing a group of Fae that are very stuck up and think very little of "riffraff."
We next see Hale and Kenzi arriving at the home of Hale's family. Hale is incredibly nervous and Kenzi tries to calm him down. Hale gathers himself and reminds Kenzi that his father is very "old school" but she tells him not to worry. They then enter a room where Hale's father Sturgis (Eugene Clark) and his sister Val (Erica Luttrell), who is playing a piano, await them. When Hale introduces Kenzi as his girlfriend, they both seem shocked and in disbelief. Kenzi attempts to talk to them, but a maid (Christine Aziz) enters the room and is shocked to see a human there, dropping the tray she is carrying in horror.
Returning from commercial, Sturgis is grilling Hale about his choice in a girlfriend, commenting that: "You are dating... this?" Kenzi is shocked by his words and Hale attempts to defend her against him, but his father does not care nor change his mind. Kenzi attempts to ask Val about her name, asking if she is a Valkyrie, but Val tells Kenzi that she is a Pombero, and that her power is that she can steal voices rendering whomever she takes a voice from mute. Val then berates Hale about Kenzi being his girlfriend, Hale telling her to be quiet. Val then takes Hale's voice from him in spite until their father tells them to behave and Val to return Hale's voice to him, which she does. Hale calls Val a Harpy and she calls him a "human-hugger." His father tells Hale that he understands working among humans, but not that he has a human girlfriend. Hale responds that his mother would understand, and his father deflects that comment saying that Hale takes after his mother, which made his only son a Siren with a sneer in his voice. Kenzi attempts to defend Hale but, to add insult to injury, his father tells Hale that their family's goodwill only goes so far, and Val tells Hale that "cheap ill-bred mortals" are well past that limit.
Bo in the meantime has gone to the Dal Riata, meeting with Dyson and Trick (Richard Howland) there. Dyson shows Bo a file on what happened to Marisol. As Bo reads the file, she asks Dyson what his plans are, and he replies that they should bring in the suspects and interrogate them "old school." Bo looks at him in disbelief and then comments that maybe they should look at the evidence they have first. Bo notes that a picture in the file is burned around the edges, the picture being of the three remaining heads of the clans. Dyson then asks if Bo wants to bring them in for questioning, noting that they are all "a prickly bunch."
Hale and Kenzi are still with Hale's family, his father speaking proudly of the fact that the Inverell being held on their property for the first time in 300 years. At that point, Dyson and Bo arrive in the room, surprised to see Hale and Kenzi there. Kenzi quickly covers for the fact she is there by commenting to Bo that she is Hale's girlfriend. Dyson shakes hands with Sturgis who greets him warmly while Val seems to be pining for him. Val asks who Dyson has arrived with, and he introduces Bo. Sturgis realizes that Bo is "the unaligned Succubus" and comments that the reports of her beauty do not do her justice. Dyson interrupts him by explaining that they are there on business. Sturgis agrees that they should talk about the murder and takes the entire group to the wine cellar.
In the wine cellar, Bo asks Sturgis point blank if he has any idea of who might want to kill Marisol. His answer is that it must be the the head of the Fin Arvin clan, Dabner, as "they are as shiftless as mortals." As he does so, Kenzi looks around the wine cellar and something catches her attention on one of the shelves. Sturgis suddenly moves from Bo on one side of the room to where Kenzi is on the other and stops her from touching one of the bottles there, asking her if she wouldn't rather have a wine cooler instead. As he confronts Kenzi and then guides her away from the bottles, Val reaches under the table and touches of one of Dyson's thighs as he sits at the table beside her. Bo watches as Val's hand moves further and further up his leg and then interrupts her and Dyson suggesting that they go and see Dabner immediately to which Dyson agrees. But before this can happen, Sturgis commands that they all enjoy some cake together. He divides the cake into four equal pieces in order to "pay homage to the original families" and also notes that he is "nothing if not sentimental." Val comments to the maid that she should make sure that whatever "the human" touches be washed at least twice. When Hale complains, she then tells the maid to throw it away instead. As this happens, Bo watches in disbelief and disgust over Val's attitude. At this point, Kenzi throws up her hands and leaves, Val looking smugly at Hale as Kenzi leaves, Hale following immediately behind her. Away from the others, Hale manages to stop Kenzi and she explains that their friendship works because: "We are the best dressed of the group and because we enjoy taking the piss out of one another." But she also tells Hale that she has never used him like he just used her. Hale apologizes, telling Kenzi that yes, his family are rude and they are bigots, and he understands that. Kenzi wants nothing more to do with Hale or his family and walks away. Moments later, Bo and the rest arrive where Hale remains. Sturgis tells Bo that Dyson must be a good influence on her as he had heard Bo was difficult. Bo replies that Kenzi has been a better one because she has taught Bo how to: "tolerate people that I can't stand. You are snobs, you are bigots." But Dyson interrupts her before she can continue telling both Sturgis and Val what she thinks about them. Val ignores Bo's comments and suggests that Dyson return whenever he wishes to: "have something sweet." Bo then takes hold of Dyson and they march away.
Kenzi returns home to discover Nate holding flowers. She tells him that he has to stop sneaking in, but Nate asks her why she would not go out with him for another man. Kenzi tells him that if it makes him feel any better, "it was the worst date of all time." Nate is crushed by what Kenzi has said and begins to leave, but Kenzi stops him. Nate then tells Kenzi that they were supposed to be playing music together but he saw her leave with Hale, Kenzi can't explain why she left with Hale save that it was a "thing." Nate explains that he can't deal with Kenzi lying to him and that she is always so "sneaky." Kenzi tells Nate that he is right and it is killing her not to be able to tell him the truth.
Bo and Dyson arrive at the Dal Riata, where Trick has the head of Clan Fin Arvin, Dabner (Sean Cullen) waiting there. He seems to be in a panic and explains that something came to his home and tried to attack him. He describes it as being on fire and that he is incensed that he was attacked. Trick then notices that one of Dabner's hands seems to be burned and he asks if the creature had touched him, but Dabner says that he didn't notice. In the next moment his hand catches fire and the fire spreads over his entire body before he is turned into ash and collapses to the floor dead.
After another commercial, Bo, Dyson and Trick survey the aftermath of Dabner's death. Trick explains that what happened was caused by a Cherufe and that if you are touched by one then you spontaneously combust. Dyson explains that a Cherufe is an under Fae made of magma, they can cover tracts of land in lava and can disguise themselves as rocks. Trick cannot understand why the Cherufe would kill individuals when it is powerful enough to destroy an entire village. Bo comments that there has to be a reason, and Trick reminds them that there is only one head of a Noble Fae Clan left to get the answers from. Bo can't believe that Sturgis would hire a Cherufe to kill the other Clan leaders, but Dyson just shrugs and tells Bo that they will have to return to talk to him again.
Bo returns home to find Kenzi eating a container of ice cream and looking crushed. Kenzi tells Bo that she told Nate the truth about she and Bo and Bo is shocked by this. But, Kenzi explains that she told Nate a lie in that she and Bo are spies and that they are in the witness protection program and that they were close to getting their own cooking show. Bo nods and comments that when Kenzi told him about the cooking show he knew she was lying, and Kenzi admits that Bo is right about that. Kenzi tells Bo that she knows why Nate is mad at her and it's because of Hale. Bo tells Kenzi that she needs to tell Hale that she won't do it anymore. They also both agree that Hale's family sucks big time. Then there is a knock at the door and Bo goes to answer it, but before she does so, she tells Kenzi that it is hard to be in a relationship when you can't be completely honest with the other person. When Bo opens the door she finds Lauren (Zoie Palmer) and Nadia (Athena Karkanis) there. Lauren greets Bo and Bo thanks her for being there as the case she is working on is a headache. Nadia half-heartedly greets Bo as well before the two enter. Kenzi then leaves as the other two women enter. Lauren tells Bo that she brought the medical textbooks she asked for, and Bo thanks her for doing so. Then Nadia asks Bo where her bathroom is, and Bo and Lauren both say, "it's upstairs". After Nadia leaves the room, Lauren tells Bo that she had to bring Nadia with her as Nadia hasn't wanted to leave Lauren's side. Lauren then shows Bo a book from The Ash's library about the Cherufe. Lauren tells Bo that the Cherufe are admired for their power and that one was responsible for the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii as a result. She also explains that when this happened, generations of both humans and Fae were killed. It is also revealed that Fae have another name for it: The Rape of Scafati. This triggers a memory in Bo that she has heard of this name before and she opens a file on the case to reveal an image of the word that was found at the murder scene.
Nadia is elsewhere in Bo's home examining the weapons in her bedroom. She pauses in front of a mirror and examines herself in it for a moment before continuing her search. Bo then enters the room from behind her and says nothing for a few moments, instead watching Nadia look at her collection of weapons. Bo then asks Nadia if she found anything good, surprising her. Nadia comments that Bo has quite the weapons collection, and Bo's answer is that everyone has their own hobby. Nadia then comments that Bo is intimidating before admitting that she wanted to check out the competition. Bo walks over to Nadia and tells her that she has nothing to worry about as Bo is not any competition to her. Nadia then asks if Bo will tell Lauren about what she did, and Bo tells her that she won't.
Back at the Dal Riata, Hale is drinking with Trick as Kenzi arrives. Hale tries to make light of what happened, but Kenzi explains to him that Nate doesn't understand why she is doing what she is for him. Hale tells Kenzi that he will tell Nate that she is doing a huge favour for him. Kenzi then asks why Hale didn't ask Bo to do him a favour. Hale then explains to Kenzi that he is the heir to the Zamora clan and that he might someday be the head of the family. Kenzi looks at him and asks if he needs a human as a Queen but Hale explains that what he needs is to set an example. Hale believes that if they do not modernize they will become irrelevant. Hale expresses his belief that the Fae should coexist with humans and do so peacefully together. Kenzi warns Hale that he he playing on her emotions and he agrees, noting that he watched a movie with Kenzi nine times on another piece of paper with things he had done for her. Kenzi takes the paper and tells Hale that she will give him one more night.
Meanwhile, Bo has returned to the wine cellar to investigate it for clues to what Sturgis is hiding. As she is examining the place where Kenzi was looking earlier, Sturgis confronts her and demands to know how she got past the guards he had posted. Bo tells Sturgis that a Cherufe is coming to kill him like it did with the other heads of the Fae families, but Sturgis' response is that if she wanted a bottle of wine she could have asked for one. Bo tells him that she noticed that one bottle in particular had caught Kenzi's attention. It was not covered in dust and she attempts to pull it from the shelf it lays on. In doing so, a hidden passage opens and Bo enters it. Sturgis does not stop her and Bo retrieves a scroll from within the room, returning to Sturgis with it. She is about to leave with the scroll when Sturgis takes it from her, opens it, and then explains what it says. Sturgis tells Bo that there was once a fourth Fae Clan called the Scafati. This clan was more powerful than all of the other three clans combined, and the other three clans made a deal with the Cherufe that lived under Mount Vesuvius to destroy Pompeii and the Scafati clan in return for giving to it every one hundred years the first born of each of the three remaining clans. However, the clans did not do so and buried it under a mountain. He tells Bo that he does not understand why it would come after the leaders of the families now, but Bo's answer is simple. The Garuda is behind it all. Bo tells him that he must stop the Inverell, but Sturgis refuses saying that he would rather burn than have the other families think he was canceling out of fear. Sturgis then forces Bo back into the secret room and then traps her within it. Bo discovers an air vent and taking an urn with Hale's Nonna in it, smashes it open.
Returning from another commercial, the Inverell is underway, the guests arriving with Dyson wandering about the room looking for the appearance of the Cherufe. A Crier (Clive Walton) is announcing the entrance of each person and Hale is becoming more and more worried as Kenzi has not appeared as yet. But then, Kenzi is announced to the assembly as: "Kenzi, Hale's bitchin' girlfriend of family What Up, Clan Hey Now." Then Kenzi makes her appearance dressed in a stunning black gown that grabs everyone's attention in the room, including Hale who is mesmerized by her. Kenzi then goes over to Hale and explains that she needed to do it her way. Hale tells her that she looks gorgeous, and that she looks perfect. Dyson watches them for a moment and then walks away, Val leaving her father and following after Dyson.
Dyson is patrolling another part of the mansion when Val confronts him. She tells Dyson that the news of the deaths of the other Dons is all that everyone is talking about, but Dyson does not care, commenting that they are all fools and should burn. Dyson tells her to leave, that something bad is coming and she should not be there. She begins to seduce Dyson, but he tells her that she is his best friend's baby sister. Her response is that she is no one's baby anymore and she tells him that she knows that he has noticed. She also tells Dyson that she has noticed that he is different, that Dyson doesn't care about anything. Val also tells Dyson that she overheard her father and Bo talking in the wine cellar and knows that her father is not the man she thought he was. Val then tells Dyson that she does not want him to be gallant for her. She intends to "drown her sorrows in something wrong. Why else would I choose you?" Dyson tries to brush her off, telling her that he is working, but she tells him that if he wants to feel something for a change, he should find her.
Elsewhere, Bo has managed to escape from the wine cellar and finds herself in the billiard room, and discovers Nate looking for Kenzi. She drags him out of sight and then asks how he got in, the answer being with the caterers. She asks him what he is doing there, and the answer is that he is looking to get his girl back. Kenzi and Hale are making the rounds of the room and commenting to each other about the disapproving looks and comments they have been getting and joking about it. Hale tells Kenzi that she's fun to be with and that's part of the reason why he invited her to what Hale calls a "clusterFae." Bo then arrives and it announced by the Crier, but Bo stops him and tells him to shut up as Kenzi calls her over. Bo then tells Hale that "yes, underdressed and uninvited, don't tell your father." before telling Kenzi that there's someone waiting for her in the billiard room.
Bo and Kenzi arrive where Nate is waiting. Nate and Kenzi pass a series of: "Dude" to one another before Bo comments that she has heard her cue and then leaves the room. Nate then asks Kenzi if they can say something other than dude. Kenzi tells him that the last time they talked it didn't help, but Nate's answers that Kenzi described herself as Batman. Kenzi tells him that he did a "great catch, you caught me in a fib" and then turns to leave. Nate tells Kenzi that in fact that is the problem, she is a great catch and he doesn't want to lose her and will just have to understand if she has a cop as a boyfriend as well. Kenzi then tells Nate that she is just pretending to be Hale's girlfriend to get his parents off his case. Nate seems to understand this. Kenzi then asks Nate if "we are cool" and Nate's answer is "I hope so." Kenzi then tells Nate that there are some things that she can't tell him and he tells her that what is between Kenzi and Bo isn't a problem as far as he is concerned because he knows who Kenzi really is. Her answer is: "Yeah. I'm yours" before they kiss. Then Kenzi tells Nate that she has to get back to Hale and that her panties are riding up and the man she loves is being a stalker. Nate is dumbfounded and can only manage to say "You love me?" Kenzi manages to answer "busted" before the two share a long heartfelt kiss which Val witnesses. Kenzi then leaves Nate but as she does, Val watches Kenzi leave, and calls her a bitch.
Kenzi returns to the assembled guests, but just before she enters the room, Val passes by and touches Kenzi's neck. Dyson sees this and when Val looks at him, Dyson follows Val out of the room. Kenzi sees Hale and tries to call out to him, but her voice is gone and all she can do is try to clear her throat. Hale notices her, but Kenzi waves him off and mimes taking a drink as she leaves the room. Bo then approaches Hale and asks if he has seen Dyson, but Hale says he hasn't. Bo then tells Hale that the Cherufe is coming to his home. Bo asks Hale to send Dyson to him should he see Dyson and then walks off, but she is stopped by Sturgis who questions Bo if she is planning on doing something stupid. Bo's answer is that she is "going to save your sorry ass" and then forces her way past him.
Kenzi in the meantime has arrived in the kitchen and tries drinking some water to get her voice back. She then sees the remains of a waiter burnt to ash on the floor a a flash of fire moving around the room. She takes cover behind a kitchen counter and then peeks out from behind it to get a glimpse of what the fire might be. Not seeing anything, she crawls along the floor trying to keep out of sight, but then finds herself face to face with the Cherufe. She tries to scream, but no sound comes from her.
Back from another commercial, Kenzi is on her knees as the Cherufe towers over her. As it raises an arm to attack Kenzi, Bo appears pushing a cart and drives the Cherufe away from her. Bo asks Kenzi if she is okay, but quickly figures out that Kenzi's voice is gone. Bo tells her to stay put and then goes after the Cherufe. As this happens, Dyson and Val are in the wine cellar, Val working frantically to remove Dyson's clothing so she can have sex with him. Dyson breaks free of her for a moment and tells Val that they should stop and go back upstairs, but she asks if that is what he really wants before grabbing Dyson's tie and forcing him back to her the two beginning to have sex together. Bo is searching the kitchen for the Cherufe, and finds a fire extinguisher to arm herself with. Dyson and Val have managed to strip most of their clothing away and are having sex as Hale walks into the wine cellar to find the two of them there. Hale yells out Val's name and the pair stop, quickly trying to make themselves presentable again. Dyson tells Hale that it does not concern him as they are consenting adults, but Hale is beyond angry seeing that Dyson was having sex with his sister. Hale then asks: "You are supposed to be my best friend, what is wrong with you?" Bo continues to search for the Cherufe and finds it, but the fire extinguisher she has is empty and has no effect. Hale tells Dyson that he has always stuck by him, and is shocked in how Dyson repays him for that. Dyson tells Hale that "I can't love, but I can still live." Hale then grabs Dyson by the collar in anger. Dyson then asks Hale if he will punch him. Hale doesn't answer and Dyson yells at Hale to do so but, Hale tells Dyson that he is not worth it before taking Val by the hand and drawing her away from Dyson, leaving him alone in the wine cellar. Bo is dodging the Cherufe's attacks as Kenzi enters the room. Kenzi sees a container of liquid nitrogen and manages to get Bo's attention and points her towards it. Together they confuse the Cherufe for a moment and then Bo pours the liquid nitrogen over the Cherufe killing it instantly with commenting that "Asian Fusion is so hot these days."
Kenzi appears in the gathering and whistles gaining the attention of everyone in the room. For a moment they all look at her and then Bo enters the room behind Kenzi holding the now dead Cherufe's head in her hand. Bo tells Sturgis that it was bad enough that he made a "deal with the devil" but also that the reason for the Cherufe attacking is because of The Garuda. Bo tells the assembled Fae that they are at each other's throats more than normally because of its influence on them and they must all put aside their differences to united again the common threat to the Fae. Sturgis begins to refute what Bo is announcing to all, but Hale stops him and tells his father that he needs to stop, and they all need to stop their petty grievances and unite together. However, a member of the Fin Arvin clan calls it a trick and a member of the Bukharin Clan calls him scum. Bo tells Hale that they all will never change and Hale just shakes his head sadly. Then he sees Dyson standing beside Val and goes over to Dyson, punching him in the jaw. Hale then tells Val to give Kenzi her voice back, which she does angrily. Upon doing so, Kenzi calls out "Lava dude's in here!", which shocks everyone. Kenzi apologizes saying it was a long holdover. She and Bo then leave together with Hale following closely behind. Sturgis calls after Hale with Val close beside him to stop. Hale asks his father what he could possible say to him and what he should care. His father claims that he used the Cherufe to keep the clans safe. but Hale refutes this telling him that all he wanted was to be in control and he cannot control what is coming for them all. His father tells Hale that they have had their differences, but he agrees that when The Garuda comes they will need to "stick together and look after our own." Hale glares at his father for a moment and then says he will protect Val, that he always has when it counts. Bo then confronts Sturgis as she realizes that he knew about The Garuda. Sturgis admits that he can feel it, that it is the enemy of The Naga and of all Fae. Bo tells Sturgis that she will fight it, but he tells her that she will lose, but he admires her and offers whatever resources that she might need regardless. Hale shakes his father's hand and tells him that it is a start at least. They part ways, but not before Sturgis looks directly towards Kenzi and says goodbye to her as Kenzi, Bo and Hale leave. As they do, Dyson appears from the shadows far behind them and watches them leave without him.
Returning from the final commercial, Bo is drinking from a wine glass and comments that the wine is unbelievable. Kenzi's answer is that she figured that Sturgis owed them all a good bottle of wine as she and Hale join Bo in her living room. Bo doesn't quite think that there is a reason to celebrate as she couldn't convince the Fae Nobles to fight The Garuda in spite of having a lava monster's head as a prop. Hale explains to Bo that it wouldn't have mattered if she had slain an army of them because they know what is coming, but they are afraid to do anything about it, and he blames their soft sheltered lives of money and power. Hale then tells about what his mother told him once: that he could be more and that was the reason that he became a police officer. Both Bo and Kenzi tell Hale that he is a great one. Hale makes the point that he is okay with the idea that he might have to throw it all away, and Kenzi agrees also adding Trick and Lauren and Dyson to the list. However Hale sighs and tells them that they shouldn't depend on Dyson for much of anything anymore. Nate then arrives and Hale goes to leave while Bo goes off to bed. Nate asks if he had fun with his girl and Hale tells him that he is a lucky man before leaving. Kenzi greets Nate, but goes after Hale and stops him from leaving. Kenzi attempts to return the fascinator that Hale gave her, but Hale refuses to take it back telling her that she was the perfect girlfriend and that she deserves it, Nate hearing their conversation and looking away in embarrassment. Hale hugs Kenzi once more before he leaves and Kenzi returns to Nate's side once more.
The final scene of the episode begins with Nadia looking dazed as she stands in Lauren's kitchen holding a knife in her hands. After a moment, she takes the knife and cuts across the palm of one hand making it bleed badly. She then raises that bleeding hand to her lips as if to taste her own blood, but is interrupted by Lauren as she enters the room. Lauren asks what happened, and Nadia tells her that it was a stupid accident as Lauren wraps a towel around Nadia's hand. Lauren then asks Nadia what she was doing with the knife, but Nadia claims she doesn't remember and tells Lauren that she's scared. Lauren then embraces Nadia, telling her that everything will be okay. However, unseen by Lauren, Nadia's expression changes as if she is possessed by something or someone as the episode ends.
Questions in this Episode
- There does not seem to be a myth or real world connection to the Clan Bukharin. Is there?
- What caused all of the strife within Hale's family? Was it all because of his mother's passing?
- Are all older Fae bigots or racist in nature? Save for Trick it seems to be a common attitude among them, not that most of the younger Fae are much better really.
- Is Nadia possessed by the Garuda? The Garuda tastes Trick's blood when they met in his dreams, so is it possible that she was possessed by it when she was in her "coma" for so long?
