Plot Summary
It would be safe to say that things did not go quite as planned for Mhyrsha and her pets as they delved the Necropolis of Akkras dungeon. Taking down two Bosses, and jumping almost twenty levels in a week would be big enough, but turning into a Greater Angelic Succubus and freeing a portion of a god that had been sealed away centuries ago? That was something else. Of course, the dungeon being destroyed afterwards didn't help, either.
But Mhyrsha, in her guise as Baroness Pureheart, has neither the time nor the inclination to stick around and deal with the consequences of her actions. She still needs to get across the border, and into the elven land of Bikar, so she can get to Crystalshield. Preferably before anything else crazy happens to try and slow her down.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 6, 2026
Mhyrsha’s quest has turned to the problem of how much power she has gained, the reputation she has, and all of the eyes that are trying to find her secrets. The devil is in the details, and for Mhyrsha, those seem to be never ending.
The work follows on from the prior work in the series, Mhyrsha being the focus here as she travels from place to place, gaining information and more power as the story develops. It is a bit of a pause however, to gather the pieces needed for the next part of the series and the political games being played have their moments. At least until the stats started appearing and I started skipping pages.
The focus on stats is becoming a real problem as almost one-third of the pages are dedicated to noting all of them that Mhyrsha has and it is getting out of control. I understand it, that is how LitRPG is, but at what point are there enough and the story, and character development for that matter, can get a chance to make the story and the characters more interesting and have more depth than just thinking about the stats they are gaining.
Mhyrsha, just barely scrapes her succubus aspects, they have very little to do with the adventure and as such she being a succubus continues to mean very little to the story. She has a lot more aspects obviously, she is developing as a character, but at the same time it would be nice to fall back on her succubus nature and see where that takes her as well.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
At least there was the barest return of Mhyrsha’s succubus nature, even if that was so very fleeting. I dearly want more of that, if not to take over the story than to complicate things. Her mature is too quiet and too much in the shadows and I wonder what happens when it comes fully to the fore. Perhaps the next part of the story will give that, but there will be a lot of stats to get through to see it I expect.
