Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 13, 2023

Ms. Ekhinos seems to have become haunted by a ghost, which isn’t the worst of things to happen. But Vixen has her own needs and the dreamscapes of others are her playground. Perhaps there is another to bring into the harem, and if there is another monster girl there as well, that’s not going to be a problem is it?

The series follows on from the prior work and tells of some of the characters being intimate before Vixen goes off on her own adventure to explore the dreams of a human nearby. Through that dreamscape and what happens there, Ms. Ekhinos bumps into another woman, the two become intimate and a new monster girl appears in the series.

Overall the heat comes from Vixen’s story, though it is very much over the top, silly at times as well, which is fun. While that does take up a lot of the story, it’s interesting because there’s more told about Vixen and her powers as a succubus, which haven’t been explored for some time. While Vixen is very much a temptress and guides the soul she encounters into a lesbian dream, it’s clear that Vixen is something of an inexperienced succubus. She’s less of a temptation than she is tugging on the threads of those she meets in the dreamscape to bring new thoughts to their minds.

Overall this works well, but some of Vixen’s dialogue, especially when she first meets the new human in the dreamscape, feel odd with what has been told about her. It’s a bit more flippant than she usually is and perhaps a bit more dominance would have make the erotica hotter than it turns out to be.

Still, Vixen’s actions do cause Ms. Ekhinos to have yet another erotic encounter which might lead to some complications in the future. Whether that happens or not, there’s a good deal of character growth for Vixen which I think was needed. But there are still many other characters in the series, and more to be revealed. Hopefully they all will have their moment to really tell their stories and add more to the series than just the erotica alone.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

Returning the focus towards Vixen I did enjoy and the amount of time that was spent in the dreamscape told a lot about her, which is what I have been looking for. It’s a bit of a shame that the author reused the title from the first work in the series however. Still, it seems very clear that Vixen’s goal is to draw as many souls as possible into the harem and that makes sense. I do hope that her personality doesn’t turn dark, which would be disappointing. She’s seemingly a young succubus and perhaps at some point she’ll become the seductress I see in her.
