Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 18, 2023

Ms. Ekhinos didn’t expect that Vixen would be a succubus, but the naughty succubus has revealed that monster girls are real, and they seem to be attracted to her boarding house. But as much fun as Vixen is, there are new visitors arriving and Ms. Ekhinos should be a good hostess. After all, Vixen will look after dear sweet Candy won’t she?

This work continues right where the prior work closed and immediately draws Vixen, the succubus, towards Candy, a very shy unicorn. There is a bit of world building for all of the characters along the way and that worked well. The erotica between Candy and Vixen built a lot of heat and, overall, this was something of a coming of age passage for Candy than anything else. While there is some character development for Vixen and Ms. Ekhinos, the focus is mainly on Candy and that was a delight.

It’s also very clear as the story unfolds that Vixen is, if not in control of the situation, at least drawing others to Ms. Ekhinos and what she offers. There’s a mystery being created and it’s very much teased throughout by the characters as they meet Ms. Ekhinos. Setting that aside, Vixen continues to be the dominant personality, she’s very much in control and is not at all shy about that. She remains a favourite of all of the succubi characters this author has created and that’s mainly in her not being evil, but being so very naughty and seductive with the other characters.

While the erotica takes up just about all of this work, it’s not to the point where it reads oddly. Perhaps that’s mainly from the description of just what a unicorn’s horn is for and how talented Vixen is, or how submissive Candy is. It’s a unique piece of erotica and the two characters were captivating together.

The story moved onwards of course, a new character appearing, at Vixen’s urging of course. The series is well into the creation of the harem at this point and I hope that there will be space for Vixen to continue to be delightful. Being how central she is, I hop that won’t happen, as it has for other succubi in harem works by this author. There’s a lot of story and questions to be answered and I hope the time will be taken to do so.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

Vixen continues to be the focus of the story, but more so the mystery about her, how she may have, in some way, turned Ms. Ekhinos towards creating this home for monster girls will be interesting. She’s very much the dominant force in the story, the other characters are falling into her orbit and there’s good storytelling in those scenes. Still, Vixen should be more than a creature obsessed with sex. If the story can manage to get past the erotica and tell more about her beyond the creation of a harem for Ms. Ekhinos, I’d be delighted and I hope I will be.
